Prospect Info

Ben Maxwell
Positives: Maxwell is a cerebral player and has good vision. He does not a play a game that is very noticable, but he is effective. He has great defensive awareness, speed and is a very good passer. He plays a very sound two-way game and can play in any situation.

Negatives: The speed of the nhl may be too fast for Maxwell. He is having trouble adjusting his timing and that makes all his assets ineffective. Moreover, he doesn't have a strong lower body and is easy neutralize with minimal physicality. If he can adjust to the speed of the nhl he can be an effective 3rd or 2nd line center because he has decent size, but given that he does not play a physical game and cannot adjust his timing, Maxwell is starting to look like a career ahler. He's still young and hopefully he will adjust, but as it stands right now, it doesn't look likely.

P.K Subban
Positives: Subban is clearly offensively gifted. He has great hockey sense and is a natural leader. He is extremely quick and agile and has great puck poise. He is not afraid to take risks and is not intimidated by anyone. He has a great first pass and good speed to lead a rush. He can also quarter back a powerplay because of his vision on the ice.

Negatives: He needs to make better decisions and play a little more conservative at times because he tends to get caught out of position. We have to remember that he is a defenseman and playing defense is priority. He also has to improve at winning board battles against bigger fowards, but this may be caused by the lack of experience at the pro-level.

All in all Subban is progressing at a steady pace and will soon make the nhl jump so long as he can improve on his decision making and positioning, Subban will be a steady nhl offensive defenseman with top 3 potential.
